About the Bears

Our journey began in 2010 with a vision to create a football club that not only excelled in competition but also served as a hub for fostering friendships, teamwork, and a sense of belonging. Established in 2012, the Burnside Heights Football Club (the “Bears”) has become a home for sportsmanship, camaraderie, and excellence in the heart of our community. 

The Bears are more than just a collection of athletes; it’s a family united by a common love for AFL. From the youngest juniors to the seasoned veterans, we provide a nurturing environment where players of all ages and skill levels can thrive. Our commitment to developing talent is evident in the success stories of players who have commenced as Juniors and now proudly play in our Senior team.

Whilst Community is at the core of the Club, it is AFL that is our purpose. From Auskick, to Juniors and all the way through to Senior Men’s and Women’s teams, the Bears have an opportunity for everyone to get involved with the Club.

The Club currently fields 13 teams in the EDFL across Junior & Senior competitions and continues to grow across all age groups. The Club has proudly won a number of EDFL awards since our first season, which further grew at the conclusion of Season 2024 with our Senior Coach, Cole Harvey was awarded EDFL Division 2 Coach of the Year, Krissy Trang won the EDFL Best & Fairest for Division 1 for the second year in a row, Kayla Ravanello won EDFL Division 1 Captain of the Year & Jordan Hughes was awarded EDFL Best & Fairest for Division 2, our Club is incredibly proud of all the outstanding achievements of our Players & Coaches and the way they represent our Club, this along with a record number of Junior players making inter-league teams & multiple nominations in Junior categories for player of the year awards, was a great reward for our Players & Coaches for their efforts in the 2024 Season.

The club maintains a key focus on Junior Development, which will further expand in the coming seasons, we look to provide the best environment for all our players to develop & compete at the highest level, while competing for the ultimate Premiership success.

Register for AusKick at Burnside Heights FC

AusKick provides a great pathway to junior football for both children and their families.

The Burnside Heights AusKick Centre has strong ties to the Burnside Heights Football Club with the junior coaches visiting the AusKick Centre during the year and assisting the AusKick coaches and interacting with the children.

AusKick children and their families are also welcome to attend junior games of the Bears during the season and half time grid games will be organised by the Bears at their Home games during the season.
